FAQs
What is our Easy Clean Non-Stick coating?
Clara’s non-stick coating is a PTFE coating.
Isn’t PTFE the stuff that makes non-stick pans non-stick?
Yes! PTFE is a safe coating used on almost all popular non-stick pans. See Wirecutter’s suggestions for non-stick pans here!
Is PTFE Safe to brew with?
Yes! You may recall hearing about chemical dangers and non-stick pans a few years ago. This was when PTFE contained PFOA and easily degraded under very high temperatures. Not only does our Easy Clean Non-Stick coating NOT contain PFOA, but Clara is not cookware and never reaches temperatures high enough to degrade non-stick coatings. See Wirecutter’s explanation on PTFE coatings here under “A Note on PFAs Compounds”.

How do I keep the wooden accents looking amazing?
For Stagg EKG Pro Studio, Stagg EKG, Corvo EKG, and any other products having wood handles or lid pulls - both maple & walnut.
Because wood is a natural product it is prone to drying and warping. Wood components that are exposed to high heat and moisture, such as the lid pull and handle, may eventually dry out and crack (like repeatedly putting a cutting board in a dishwasher).
To prevent this, we recommend periodically applying any food safe mineral oil to the lid pull & handle once per month - and buffing with a soft cloth. It’s also good practice to do this any time you notice the wood feeling especially dry.
If you are having issues with your wooden handle and/or lid pull, please contact us for assistance!
